top marketing podcasts

Marketing is a fast-paced industry. You need to dedicate a certain amount of learning time to your industry just to keep up. To rise to the top of your industry, you must be learning even faster than that. One easy way to continue to learn is through free podcasts. Here are my top marketing podcasts, and some tips on how to listen to them more efficiently.

The Art of Paid Traffic

Host: Rick Mulready

This is one of my favorite podcasts on the list. It is very well rounded and covers a lot of different topics in regards to paid traffic. Rick himself is a Facebook ads expert, but he brings on plenty of guests to fill you in on everything from YouTube ads to landing pages to affiliate marketing.

The content is always on point and never disappoints. He brings on a lot of his students to share their real world successes that can always spark ideas and inspiration.

Perpetual Traffic

Hosts: Keith Krance, Molly Pittman, and Ralph Burns

A weekly must-listen for staying on the cutting edge of what’s new in generating traffic from Digital Marketer and Dominate Web Media. With a heavier emphasis on Facebook ads, Molly, Keith, and Ralph give you a mix of big picture strategies along with the nitty gritty details on tactical execution.

My favorite episodes are where they share recent Facebook changes and what it means for you, and what’s to come next on Zuck’s list so you can start preparing.

Social Media Pubcast

Host: Jon Loomer

Jon is hands down my favorite Facebook ads guy. This is another great resource for the latest Facebook news. Additionally, he comes up with extremely creative ways to take advantage of the platform and features. On his pubcast, he covers all things Facebook along with some other similar topics of interest such as entrepreneurship, time management, and public speaking.

He has a few frequently recurring guests that I am fascinated by. Andrew Foxwell and John Robinson (JR) are both incredibly smart and make for very interesting and entertaining discussions.

The Social Media Examiner Show

Host: Mima

This is a 10-minute daily podcast brought to you by Social Media Examiner. You can expect quick, actionable tips on specific social media topics.

Since this is a daily show, it may be too much for you to keep up with all the episodes. Browse through the feed of episodes to find ones of interest to you. The titles are straight to the point so you can easily find what you want to learn. No fluff, just solid information.

Social Media Marketing

Host: Michael Stelzner

Another podcast by Social Media Examiner. This is a longer, weekly podcast featuring “brand new discoveries” aka tools to check out and interviews with industry experts and success stories.

The content includes a much broader spectrum of all things social media.

Online Marketing Made Easy

Host: Amy Porterfield

This marketing podcast is aimed more to the online entrepreneur. Amy and her guests focus on how to monetize your online marketing and blogging efforts.

Some of her specialties that she highlights are how to launch and promote online courses, generate leads, using webinars, and build authority.

Call to Action

Host: Stephanie Saretsky

The Call to Action podcast is more conversion focused. It is created by one of the leaders in landing page builders, Unbounce. They put more of an agency spin on their content. Their product is more geared toward agencies and they are very transparent in how they run their own business and marketing department.

Any given week they might be interviewing digital experts covering topics such as conversion rate optimization, A/B testing, content marketing, copywriting, landing page optimization, and more.

Social Media Social Hour

Host: Tyler J Anderson

Tyler is a social media entrepreneur who owns his own social media and content marketing agency, Casual Fridays. On this podcast, he talks with top brands and influencers to discuss social media marketing, online marketing, and content marketing.

In these episodes you can expect to find actionable tips and strategies to improve your social media marketing.

How I listen to Podcasts

I listen to a lot of podcasts using the iPhone Podcast app. To make sure I get through everything I want to listen to and not end up swimming in episodes, here are a few tips I use:

  • Listen to podcasts in the car instead of music. Turn your commute and drive time into a mobile classroom.
  • Listen on 2x speed. This instantly cuts all your podcast listening times in half. If you’re not used to listening to sped up info yet, start with 1.5x to train your brain to listen faster.
  • Sort oldest to newest. If you’re bingeing on a new podcast, setting episodes to play oldest to newest will automatically play the episodes in chronological order.
  • Add to up next. If you aren’t planning on listening to multiple episodes of the same podcast in order, find the episodes you want to listen to and click on the 3 dots. In that menu click add to up next to put it at the end of your queue.
  • Fast forward. Utilize the skip button to jump 15 seconds. I use this handy button to fly through intros, ads, and outros.
